Ohio’s 529 Plan has partnered with FC Cincinnati Foundation for a third year to support their “Learning Is Cool” program, which reaches 24,000 area students each year. The “Learning Is Cool” program motivates students to work hard in the classroom to earn a spot on their schools’ honor roll.

According to FC Cincinnati Foundation, when the students make the honor roll, they receive “a small gift and acongratulatory letter from FC Cincinnati leadership and players for each quarter they reach the “A” (3.51+) Honor Roll. The program is reintroduced at the beginning of each school year with a special kick-off gift for every student that falls within the designated grade levels, with posters in the classroom and throughout the schools. Students who achieve the honor roll at least twice during the school year are invited to attend a special Academic Achievement Celebration at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden with their families. Here, they can receive their medal of achievement from one of the participating FC Cincinnati players, have their photo taken with them, interact with FC Cincinnati players in other locations, and enjoy everything the Zoo has to offer with their families.”

For the 2023-2024 school year, over 8,000 students who earned an “A” honor roll at their school for two or more quarters were invited to this event.

“Learning is Cool” is currently in three districts covering 67 schools – Cincinnati Public Schools, Covington Independent Schools, North College Hill City Schools and Cincinnati Preparatory Academy., and reaches over 24,000 students annually.
