The Ohio Tuition Trust Authority (OTTA), a state agency within the Ohio Department of Higher Education, administers the CollegeAdvantage 529 Savings Program (Program). The Program is offered and sold as 1.) the CollegeAdvantage Direct 529 Savings Plan, and 2.) the BlackRock CollegeAdvantage 529 Advisor Savings Plan. OTTA also administers a prepaid tuition program called the CollegeAdvantage Guaranteed 529 Savings Plan, which remains closed since Dec. 31, 2003, to new enrollments and contributions.
If you are not an Ohio resident or taxpayer, before you invest, consider whether your home state offers a 529 Plan that provides its taxpayers with state tax and other benefits not available to you through CollegeAdvantage before making an investment.
Before investing in the Program, read the specific Plan's Offering Statement and Participation Agreement. Except for the Fifth Third investment options, which are insured by the FDIC up to certain limits, investments in CollegeAdvantage are not insured or guaranteed. Participants assume all risk of investment, including the potential loss of principal. Prospective participants should seek the advice of a professional concerning any legal, financial, or tax consequences related to opening an account with the Program. OTTA cannot and will not provide legal, financial, or tax advice and the information on this website should not be construed as such.
Participation in the Program does not guarantee that contributions and the investment return on contributions, if any, will be adequate to cover future higher education expenses or that a beneficiary will be admitted to or permitted to continue to attend an institution of higher education.
Returns on contributors' investments in the CollegeAdvantage Direct 529 Savings Plan or BlackRock CollegeAdvantage 529 Advisor Savings Plan are not guaranteed by the state and the contributors to those plans assume all investment risk, including the potential loss of principal and liability for penalties such as those levied for non-educational withdrawals.
The State of Ohio shall have no debt or obligation to any contributor, beneficiary, or any other person as a result of any CollegeAdvantage Direct 529 Savings Plan or BlackRock CollegeAdvantage 529 Advisor Savings Plan account, and the state assumes no risk or liability for funds invested in the CollegeAdvantage Direct 529 Savings Plan or BlackRock CollegeAdvantage 529 Advisor Savings Plan.
