Here are some relevant events and resources in recognition of the day:
- National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM) in Columbus will be hosting multiple events in honor of Veterans Day. Families can register for “Daniel Tiger – Be My Neighbor Day” on Saturday, Nov. 8. The event focuses on service opportunities with visits from Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat. Families are encouraged to donate new hygiene products. On Nov. 9, NVMM will host the MILVETS 2025 Veterans Day Rally while visiting NVMM. This free event has activities for all ages, and veterans can record their stories. The Veterans Day Rally will also be accepting donation for “Toys for Tots.” The annual Veterans Day ceremony starts at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11. Actor Matthew Modine, who portrayed Private/Sergeant J.T. “Joker” Davies in “Full Metal Jacket,” a film on the Vietnam War, will be the keynote speaker. Modine’s photographic collection from the filming of “Full Metal Jacket” will be on display at LVMM. If you would like to attend the Nov. 11 ceremony, you will need to register for the free event. On Nov. 15, the LVMM, in conjunction with the Ohio History Connection, will allow visitors to “March Through Time” with “military history brought to life through hands-on activities, reenactors, and themed scavenger hunts. Discover how service members lived, fought, and persevered across generations—and how their stories continue to inspire today.” Lastly, NVMM is offering a Veteran Day flag campaign, in which a flag can be dedicated to honor a veteran in your life. The flag will be placed on the NVMM lawn.
