Mother and daughter work on a puzzle together

Ohio 529 CollegeAdvantage will soon send out 1099Qs to account owners who made 529 withdrawals in 2025. You will need this document when you do your federal and state taxes later this year.

There have been some adjustments to the information boxes on the 1099Q and we want to share these updates before you begin to work on your 2025 taxes.

Box 1: Gross Distribution, Box 2: Earnings, and Box 3: Basis, will remain the same.

The changes can be found at:

  • Box 4a: This is to be checked whenever there is a direct rollover to another 529 Plan and/or to an ABLE Plan. The account owner will receive the 1099Q with this box is marked.
  • Box 4b: This is to be checked whenever there is a direct 529 rollover to a Roth IRA. Beneficiary will receive the 1099Q with this box is marked.
