At Ohio 529, CollegeAdvantage, we believe that all types of savings are critical for your family’s overall financial success,  2024 Veterans Saves Weekespecially as families transition from the military to a civilian life. This is why we are a proud supporter of the 2024 Veterans Saves Week, which runs from Monday, Nov. 11 – Friday, Nov. 15.

Veterans Save Week, formerly Military Saves Week, is a program hosted by America Saves. Since 2007, America Saves has motivated and encouraged individuals and households to develop good saving habits and build a better financial future. America Saves is an organization, managed by the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) and dedicated to helping individuals save money, reduce household debt, and build wealth.

Participants will be encouraged to take the Veterans Saves Pledge to set short-term savings goals, like building an emergency fund, and long-term goals, like saving for retirement or their children’s future education. Additionally, participants can learn techniques on how to boost their financial education to shape their savings strategies and how best to save as a family.

Veterans Saves Week will focus on a different theme each day. The schedule is:

Day One — Choosing the right financial institution

Day Two —  Saving for competing priorities

Day Three — All about housing

Day Four —Navigating military to civilian employment financial transition

In partnership with Veterans Saves, Veterans Benefits Banking will offer free financial counseling for veterans as their families.

Veterans Saves also provides a list of organizations that offer emergency assistance and crisis support to veterans and their loved ones.

Like all participating organizations, Ohio 529 encourages you and your family to set a financial goal together, create a plan to achieve it, and then save automatically When you save as a family and everyone is on board the budgeting plan, there are no limits to what you can achieve together.
