Ohio 529 CollegeAdvantage is proud to be a part of COSI Science Festival and encourages Ohio residents to take advantage of all the fun events at the one of the largest STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) event in the state. In conjunction with the Ohio Department of Higher Education, Ohio 529 is pleased to partner with COSI (Center of Science and Industry) in support their Science Festival, which runs from Wednesday, April 30 to Saturday, May 3, all around central Ohio, as well as the center and its surrounding grounds at 333 West Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215.
From April 30 – May 3, your family can explore many ways that we use science in our everyday lives at events all around the central Ohio community. The events have been divided into categories such as Be A Scientist, Adult Science Series, Bioblitz Citizens Science Series, Creative Sparks, Science Block Party, Career Lab, and Outdoor Exploration. For instance, your family can enjoy outings like being out in nature with Columbus Parks and Rec; going to a solar car show by OSU Buckeye Solar Racing Team, how to plant using containers only, glass blowing, tour the Franklin County Forensic Science Center, launch bottle rockets, study the science of skateboarding, exploring the science of making camera less photography, discover coding with Minecraft, and enjoying a solstice star party and planetarium show just to name a few. And if you or your children are interested in pursuing a STEM career, then come to the Andelyn Biosciences Career Lab event to learn more about the many opportunities.
From 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3, COSI will host the Big Science Celebration on the Scioto Peninsula in downtown Columbus. Over one hundred exhibitors will be there from STEAM professionals, researchers, many different departments from The Ohio State University, state agencies like the Ohio Department of Higher Education, Ohio 529, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Columbus Metropolitan Library, and many other local businesses and organizations. There will be fun, hands-on (and sometimes messy) activities for your family to explore.
We hope to see you there!
